TRadio Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the TRadio mobile application ("TRadio", "we", "our") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We designed TRadio to keep your data on your device wherever possible.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Data stored only on your device
TRadio is a client-side application. The following data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage and is not transmitted to us:
- Your theme preference (dark / light).
- Your recently played stations.
- Stations you save from the Discover feature.
- Stations you create with the Broadcast feature (including the location you grant for that station).
- Personal notes you add to stations in the in-app chat panel.
- Cached AI sub-genre labels for stations you listen to.
- The expiry time of any active "Remove Ads" reward.
1.2 Location
If you grant location permission, TRadio uses your approximate coordinates only to (a) show stations near you and (b) tag a station you create via Broadcast with its origin. Your coordinates are not sent to our servers and are not shared with third parties.
1.3 Network usage
When you play a station, your device connects directly to the broadcaster's public stream URL. Those broadcasters may log standard network metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamps) under their own privacy policies. We are not party to those connections.
2. Third-party services
2.1 Google AdMob (advertising)
TRadio shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a non-permanent advertising identifier and limited device information to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, prevent fraud, and measure performance. See Google's policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
2.2 Radio Browser API (station discovery)
When you use the Discover feature, your search query is sent to the public Radio Browser API (radio-browser.info) to fetch station results. No personal identifiers are sent. See their policy on the linked site.
2.3 Google Generative AI (AI Discovery, optional)
If you enable the AI Discovery feature, TRadio sends the station's name, genre, city and country to Google's Gemini API to receive a sub-genre suggestion. No information about you, your location, or your listening history is included in those requests.
3. Permissions used
- INTERNET — required to play streams, fetch discovery results, and serve ads.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — used to detect when you are offline and display a banner.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — optional, only used if you accept the system prompt; supports the "Nearby" and "Broadcast" features.
4. Children's privacy
TRadio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our service, please contact us and we will work to delete it.
5. Data retention and deletion
All data stored on your device persists until you (a) clear the app's data via your device settings, (b) uninstall the app, or (c) clear individual items in-app where supported (e.g. recently played). You can revoke location permission at any time via your device's system settings.
6. Your choices
- Opt out of personalized ads — On Android, reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Revoke location — Settings → Apps → TRadio → Permissions → Location.
- Delete local data — Settings → Apps → TRadio → Storage → Clear data.
7. International users
TRadio is operated from Zambia. If you are accessing the app from outside Zambia, please be aware that any third-party services listed above may transfer data internationally under their own policies.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made. Continued use of TRadio after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
For questions about this policy or your data, contact: mufwaya.zm@gmail.com.
